Peacock has confirmed the return of the vehicular combat series Twisted Metal for this year, adding excitement to the summer season. The story, inspired by a well-known and classic PlayStation series, debuted in the summer of 2023 and was renewed shortly after its premiere. The first season introduced the origin story of its characters, featuring Anthony Mackie as a delivery driver with amnesia, Stephanie Beatriz as his partner, and Joe Seanoa alongside Will Arnett as Sweet Tooth, a homicidal clown.
Although the first season did not explore the combat tournament that is central to the video games, the final episode hinted at this confrontation, suggesting that the second season will delve into this aspect.
The official synopsis indicates that, following the events of the first season’s conclusion, John and Quiet will be immersed in the lethal Twisted Metal tournament, a kind of demolition organized by an enigmatic character known as Calypso. As they face new and dangerous rivals, as well as familiar faces like the killer clown Sweet Tooth, John's situation becomes more complicated when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.
So far, Peacock has not revealed a specific release date for the second season, although it is expected to be available during the summer.
