The 2025 GMC Sierra EV is $10,000 cheaper than the 2024 model.
The 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali has been unveiled, and fortunately, it is much more affordable than the 2024 model, without compromising aspects such as range.
Electric trucks face a pricing challenge, but manufacturers appear to be aware of this issue. One of the newcomers in the electric truck market is experiencing a price reduction. The 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali has a cost that is $10,000 less compared to its previous 2024 version, retaining all its features and even offering a greater range. However, it is important to note that despite the discount, the starting price of the Sierra EV remains considerably high, beginning at $91,995, which places it in a higher range than the Rivian R1T and comparable to the Tesla Cybertruck.
Regarding design, the GMC Sierra EV Denali is aimed at those who prefer a more traditional look in their electric trucks, in contrast to the distinctive style of the Tesla Cybertruck and the Rivian R1S. The electric version displays a design similar to the combustion model, with headlights that follow the lines of the front and a large GMC logo in the center. Its large wheels and the sculpted hood contribute to a sporty aesthetic; although it is not as unique as the Cybertruck, it has a modern and sleek appearance.
Inside, the truck stands out for its luxury, featuring high-quality leather upholstery and a large central screen for the infotainment system, which includes a design reminiscent of Ford by incorporating a physical volume knob. This system, based on Android Automotive, is not compatible with CarPlay or Android Auto, so users will need to use the integrated system for navigation and audio. Additionally, it has an 11-inch digital instrument panel.
In terms of performance, the Denali model of the 2025 Sierra EV offers a dual-motor electric powertrain that provides all-wheel drive and an impressive output of 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque. It is also equipped with air suspension and the Crab Walk feature, known from the Hummer EV, which allows all four wheels to move in the same direction to facilitate diagonal parking.
The truck has a towing capacity of up to 10,500 pounds, although it is crucial to highlight that towing heavy loads will significantly reduce its range. In terms of range, the Sierra EV Denali achieves up to 390 miles on a single charge, a figure that surpasses most current electric vehicles. There is also a version with greater range that, however, increases the price to $100,495, offering a range of 460 miles.
Charging speed is another strong point, as it is compatible with fast charging stations that allow a charging rate of up to 350 kilowatts, providing approximately 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging.
Regarding pricing and availability, although the GMC Sierra EV is not considered an economical vehicle, GMC is expected to introduce two new, more affordable versions in early 2025, called the Sierra EV Elevation and Sierra EV AT4. For now, the Denali model is already being shipped to dealerships for those interested in its purchase.
