Researchers reveal that the attack with a Cybertruck in front of Trump’s hotel was planned

A person lost their life in the bombing attack.

A 37-year-old U.S. Army soldier, Special Forces Specialist Matthew Livelsberger, was involved in a terrorist attack in Las Vegas last Thursday, using a Tesla Cybertruck to carry out his plans. Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck and filled it with fireworks and fuel containers before shooting himself just before the vehicle exploded in front of the Trump hotel. This incident resulted in one death and minor injuries to seven others.

During the investigation, Las Vegas police revealed that Livelsberger had used ChatGPT's generative artificial intelligence to gather information about explosive targets, specific ammunition speeds, and the legality of fireworks in Arizona. According to Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill, it is believed that the soldier did not intend to harm anyone and left notes indicating that the explosion was a "wake-up call" for Americans.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, commented on the incident, noting that the Cybertruck, when used, actually contained the explosion and directed it upward, which preemptively prevented greater damage, as even the glass doors of the lobby were not broken. This event marks the first known instance of an artificial intelligence tool like ChatGPT being used to help build a device for destructive purposes, raising concerns about its use.

OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT, issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to the responsible use of its artificial intelligence tools, emphasizing that the model provides warnings against illegal or harmful activities and only gives publicly available information.

For his part, Elon Musk plans to repair the Cybertruck involved in the attack and return it to circulation. According to Musk, the vehicle's batteries remain intact and the tires are still inflated.
