A recent benchmark of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus reveals a surprising (and concerning) chip.
Exynos makes its debut on the scene.
A new performance analysis of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus reveals that this model will use an Exynos 2500 chipset, challenging previous leaks that suggested the entire series would be exclusively equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. According to the data provided in this benchmark, the scores are lower than those achieved by devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The leaker @Jukanlosreve shared this information via Geekbench, where it is mentioned that the Galaxy S25 Plus will come with 12GB of RAM. The results obtained are 2,358 points in single-core performance and 8,211 in multi-core performance. To put this into perspective, the Galaxy S24 Plus shows an average performance of 2,125 in single-core and 6,571 in multi-core. Although the S25 Plus shows considerably better performance in multi-core, it still does not meet expectations based on previous leaks.
Contrary to what was thought, which was that the entire Galaxy S25 lineup would employ the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a recent benchmark of this model with the 8 Elite chip indicated scores of 3,160 in single-core and 9,941 in multi-core. This creates uncertainty about the chip that will be used across all models in the series.
It is important to note that the benchmark corresponds to a model intended for the European market, so in regions like the United States, the use of Snapdragon is likely to be maintained. Historically, Samsung tends to assign different chipsets depending on the region, with the United States mainly receiving versions equipped with Snapdragon.
Moreover, the appearance of this benchmark could imply that it is an older prototype, which would allow for the possibility that all devices in the Galaxy S25 series employ the Snapdragon 8 Elite. If there is segmentation in the chipsets, it is estimated that the Galaxy S25 Ultra model will likely maintain the Snapdragon 8 Elite across all markets, thus ensuring superior performance in the high-end.
For those who do not opt for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, this new analysis raises doubts about the performance of the alternative models. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 line is anticipated to take place on January 22, at which point the specifications of the chips to be used in each model will be clarified.
