The portable Razer Chroma Dock is compatible with the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.
For this reason, it is also necessary to have proper lighting for the players.
Razer has unveiled a series of new accessories for portable gaming, highlighting the remote PC streaming capability of the Kishi Ultra mobile controller, as well as a foldable dock with RGB for multiple platforms, designed for devices like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.
The new Handheld Dock Chroma is a “6-in-1” docking station that transforms smartphones, tablets, or handheld consoles into powerful gaming systems, offering charging support with a power pass-through of 100W. It will be priced at $79.99 and will be available starting January 30, with pre-order options available from January 7.
This dock is similar to the official docking stations from Valve or Nintendo, allowing users to connect their handheld devices to external displays, thus expanding connections for a big-screen gaming experience. The Handheld Dock Chroma uses a USB-C cable to connect to compatible devices, which include Android phones and tablets, iPads, and iPhones with USB-C ports, the Steam Deck, the Nintendo Switch, and Razer's own Edge.
On the back of the dock, there are several port options, including a USB-C power port, an HDMI output for connecting to TVs or gaming monitors, a gigabit Ethernet port, and three USB-A ports, ideal for connecting controllers or keyboards. Due to the cable's positioning, some devices like the Switch must be placed upside down in the dock.
The dock is made of aluminum and folds into a compact form, making it easy to transport and preventing damage. Being a Razer product, it features a Chroma-enabled RGB bar on the front, allowing users to customize lighting effects.
In addition to these accessories, Razer has introduced a PC Remote Play feature for the Kishi Ultra controller, as well as other controllers, enabling users to stream games directly from their PCs to smartphones and tablets. This feature leverages the Sensa HD support of the Kishi Ultra, which converts audio output into haptic feedback on compatible Android devices (although it is not available for iOS). According to Razer, PC Remote Play allows for full-resolution game streaming without sacrificing visual quality or gameplay speed and is accessible through the Razer Nexus app on iOS or Android. This new feature is based on the popular streaming client Moonlight and is noted for its ability to run games at the native resolution and refresh rate of the phone.
