Microsoft will conduct a technical alpha at the end of October for the upcoming release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This event will take place over an unspecified weekend of the month, aiming to test the core services of the game ahead of its scheduled launch on November 19.
Participants in this testing phase will need a powerful PC to experience Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as this alpha version will not be available to Xbox players. During the technical alpha, free flight will be offered, along with limited access to potential races, challenges, and explorations, in addition to a restricted number of aircraft. The Microsoft Flight Simulator team has emphasized that this test is designed to gather feedback on specific areas and features, so the availability of content will be limited.
The current version of Microsoft Flight Simulator already demands robust hardware, and this 2024 edition promises to further increase system requirements. The recommended specifications include 32GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-10700K processor, and an RTX 2080 graphics card. Ideally, to play at maximum quality, it is recommended to have up to 64GB of RAM, an RTX 4080, and a i7-14700K.
Once Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is launched next month, players will have the opportunity to pilot an air ambulance, participate in mountain rescue operations, or perform search and rescue missions. VIP charter services, skydiving aviation, air racing, and hot air balloon trips will also be added.
The installation size of the new simulator has been reduced to approximately 30GB, as Microsoft is utilizing its latest cloud streaming technology to stream high-definition areas during flight, which decreases the amount that needs to be pre-installed. Testing this cloud streaming technology will be a key aspect of the technical alpha of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 taking place later this month.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be released for PC and Xbox Series S/X on November 19.
