iFixit halves the size of its most popular tech repair toolkit.
Repair of portable devices for "people who solve problems in the real world."
iFixit has launched the Pro Tech Go Toolkit, a more compact version of its popular Pro Tech kit. This new kit is approximately half the size and weight of the original, yet it includes the most essential tools for repairing devices like phones, laptops, and gaming consoles.
At the core of the Pro Tech Go is a set of 32-bit screwdrivers that cover everything from Phillips and flathead tips to specialized pieces like Pentalobe P2 and P5 security bits, which are necessary for accessing the interiors of Apple devices. Additionally, it includes a variety of opening tools, comprising six punches, two pairs of tweezers, and a pair of spudgers. Like the Pro Tech kit, the Pro Tech Go comes wrapped in a durable fabric case, although its size is smaller, measuring 160 x 100 x 52 mm, making it more portable. Despite its compact size, it has space to add two additional essential tools if they are not included in the kit.
iFixit's Chief Product Engineer, Brett Hartt, commented: “We designed it for people who are doing real-world repairs. It’s lightweight, compact, and has what you need when repairs come up, even if you’re not at your workbench.”
Although the Pro Tech Go is smaller, its price is not proportionately lower, costing $49.95 compared to the original kit's $74.95. This new toolkit is now available at iFixit's online store, as well as on Amazon and Best Buy.
