Unfortunately, you won't be able to uninstall Microsoft Edge from your PC, according to the new uninstallation document.
Edge has expressed its intention to remain in the market...
Microsoft has released a document that supposedly should help users uninstall its Edge browser from their computers, but instead of providing clear instructions for removal, the content focuses on justifying its use compared to Google Chrome. This document includes a list of alleged advantages that Edge offers over Chrome, although many of these claims are not entirely accurate.
The surprise lies in the fact that there is no official method to uninstall Microsoft Edge; the control panel only allows for it to be repaired. This strategy appears to be a new attempt by Microsoft to attract PC users to its browser, a tactic that has been seen before through pop-ups and advertising on Windows 11, which many consider intrusive.
Despite the criticism, Google Chrome remains the most used browser, indicating that many users might be interested in removing Edge from their systems. The situation becomes even more perplexing given that the intention of a document titled "uninstall" should be to facilitate that process rather than promote the retention of the software. This tactic is reminiscent of some companies’ attempts to persuade users when they try to cancel their subscriptions to services, such as the experience of trying to cancel a PlayStation Plus or Amazon Prime subscription, where multiple reasons are presented to encourage staying.
This approach of pressuring users to keep software they do not want could have counterproductive effects, pushing users away rather than retaining them. Microsoft may face negative reactions for these kinds of maneuvers that seem more like a desperate attempt to maintain its user base.
