Google Maps revealed the most visited attractions in Latin America and introduced new features.

In light of the arrival of this new decade, the platform has decided to highlight the most significant themes that have set the tone worldwide, as well as in Argentina, Chile, and Colombia in recent years.

Google Maps celebrates two decades of existence, during which it has helped over 2 billion people each month navigate, explore, and discover new destinations around the globe. On the occasion of this anniversary, the platform highlights the most significant places and points of interest globally and in countries like Argentina, Chile, and Colombia, as well as introducing new tools that allow users to move more efficiently and responsibly, alongside a journey through its most important milestones.

According to Miriam Daniel, Vice President of Google Maps, “20 years ago, Google Maps was introduced as a revolution, changing the way people move. Today, it is much more than just a map. It is a vital tool for a vast number of users who rely on it monthly.” Thanks to a community of 500 million contributors making 100 million updates, Google Maps provides up-to-date information about 250 million businesses and places and has guided people through 1 trillion kilometers of routes.

In this celebration, Google Maps is launching several attractive novelties:

  • Sustainability: Users can now visualize and select routes that are more fuel or energy-efficient, available on iOS and Android platforms.

  • New navigation avatar: To commemorate its birthday, drivers will have the option to change the navigation arrow to a festive bus.

  • Improved screenshots: With Gemini technology, Google Maps will automatically identify highlighted places in screenshots, such as restaurants and attractions, and generate personalized lists without any action required from the user. This feature will be available on iOS in the U.S. this month and will be launched on Android soon.
