Three new PS Plus games you should try this weekend (October 4-6)
PS Plus subscribers have received excellent free games to kick off October, highlighting The Last of Us.
October has arrived, which means it’s the perfect time to enjoy more horror movies and horror video games to get into the spooky spirit. Recently, the new releases on PS Plus are enhancing this experience, and on top of that, a fighting game has just been added to the service right before the last major WWE events of the year. This has led me to select three games that PS Plus subscribers should try this weekend.
The Last of Us Part I
The Last of Us is a classic that needs no introduction. This horror video game marked a milestone in video game storytelling with its emotional tale of Joel and Ellie. Originally released on PS3 in 2013 and remastered for PS4 in 2014, we now have The Last of Us Part I, a remake designed for PS5. This new format offers significant visual upgrades and new accessibility features, along with a gameplay experience that aligns more closely with its 2020 sequel. If you haven’t experienced The Last of Us, this is the perfect opportunity now that it’s available on PS Plus for PS5 subscribers and also on PC.
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!
When you start Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, it may seem like a simple visual novel about dating in a school club. However, you will soon discover that it is a horror game that becomes unsettling due to its constant breaking of the fourth wall. This title gained popularity on platforms like YouTube when it was released on PC in 2017, before arriving on consoles with additional content in 2021. It turns out to be a perfect choice to play in early October, right between back-to-school season and Halloween. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! are part of PS Plus Essential until November 4th. It is also available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
WWE 2K24
If you’re looking for some laid-back fun and enjoy wrestling, WWE 2K24 is an excellent choice. This latest entry in the annual 2K wrestling game series features incremental improvements that add more depth to modes like MyGM and overall gameplay. You know exactly what you’re getting into when you download a game like WWE 2K24 during the Bad Blood event weekend. For wrestling enthusiasts who haven't tried it yet, it promises to be a fun gaming weekend. The PS4 and PS5 versions of WWE 2K24 are available through PS Plus Essential until November 4th, and it’s also available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
