The Yale Assure Lock 2 has improved over time.
Over the years, several new versions of the Yale Assure Lock 2 have been released, each with more advanced features than the last.
The Yale Assure Lock 2 has remained one of the best options in the smart lock market. Its sleek design, a robust companion app, and a wide range of customization options make it a premium choice recommended for most consumers. Unlike other models that may lose their appeal over time, the Assure Lock 2 has gained fans thanks to its durability; the model installed on my door has withstood several storms in Colorado, remaining in perfect condition. Furthermore, the brand has shown a strong commitment by adding more variants to the Assure Lock 2 line.
Recently, I tested a newer version of this model, compatible with Apple Home Keys, which reaffirmed my opinion that it is one of the best smart locks available.
Customization Options
What makes the Yale Assure Lock 2 so easy to recommend is its variety of configurations. The standard model offers the following features:
- Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity
- Keyed or keyless
- Touchscreen or keypad
- Finishes in black, black, or nickel
Depending on the chosen specifications, the price can range from $160 to $260, making it a suitable option for different budgets. The availability of three finishes makes it easy to match with any home style. For those seeking greater security, the keyless option is ideal, especially for rental properties. Additionally, a powerful mobile app allows you to monitor when the door is opened or closed, create passcodes, and sync with Google Home, Apple Home, and Amazon Alexa, thus completing a very functional set.
New Models with Enhanced Features
Yale has not stopped at the standard model; they have added new versions that include attractive features. For example, the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch incorporates a fingerprint scanner, making access to your home easier. On the other hand, the Assure Lock 2 Plus is Yale's first model with Apple Home Key integration, offering a convenience level that meets expectations. Installation is straightforward, and being able to unlock the door with an iPhone or Apple Watch is very practical. Although it offers fewer customization options than other models, you can still choose from three vibrant colors and have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi support.
It's encouraging to see how Yale continues to expand the functionalities of the Assure Lock 2, as it has been an excellent stepping stone for new and exciting features. A Matter-compatible version is expected to be released in the future, which will undoubtedly enhance its longevity and compatibility with other devices.
While it may be somewhat costly to fully customize, it's hard not to appreciate the versatility it offers. With a streamlined design and a powerful mobile app, the Yale Assure Lock 2 has been a great addition to my home for years. Its battery life can be a downside, as other models can operate for years without replacement, whereas the Assure Lock 2 lasts for months; however, this is considered a minor drawback for a device that is, overall, exceptional.
