The return of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown stands out in the PS Plus selection for March.
Premium members can once again enjoy the first three games of Armored Core by FromSoftware. Additionally, they have the opportunity to experience the game with the catchy title Bang-on Balls: Chronicles.
The PlayStation Plus game catalog for March highlights the arrival of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, a critically acclaimed title. This metroidvania game is joined by others like Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, UFC 5, Arcade Paradise, and the quirky Bang-on Balls: Chronicles. For PS Plus Premium subscribers, there will also be a return to mech piloting action with the first three games of Armored Core, accessible from March 18.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been considered a great game, incorporating classic elements of the series such as agile parkour controls, sword handling, and challenging platforming, along with magical secrets. Its stunning visual style, featuring a vibrant color palette, has captured the attention of players. According to a critic, it is "a fantastic metroidvania that could easily be related to classic titles in the genre like Hollow Knight and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night." Additionally, the game features a "memory shards" functionality, allowing players to capture images of areas to return to them later, a mechanic that could be imitated by other titles in the same category. However, this feature comes with a limited number of slots for the shards.
Despite excellent reviews, The Lost Crown sold around 300,000 copies in its first weeks, leading Ubisoft to disband the team that developed the game. This decision suggests that there will be no more downloadable content or sequels, although many of its developers remain at the company working on new projects. A new Prince of Persia game is anticipated for next year.
Among the other notable games for Extra and Premium members are Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, which offers dynamic arcade soccer with appealing visuals and an interesting narrative, and Arcade Paradise, a nostalgic management simulator with additional mini-games. Also included is Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, an indie platformer reminiscent of a 3D Kirby game, but with quirky and comedic humor.
Meanwhile, PS Plus Premium subscribers will once again be able to enjoy the classics Armored Core (1997), Armored Core: Project Phantasma (1997), and Armored Core: Master of Arena (1999) on their modern consoles. This highly customizable mech series paved the way for the recent Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon, which has been praised for its design and thematic cohesion.
The new titles for the PS Plus service will be available starting March 18.
