The release date of the OnePlus Open 2 would have been leaked.
One of the most anticipated foldable phones could be about to be announced. The OnePlus Open 2 is expected to be unveiled soon, with a launch planned for early 2025.
The OnePlus Open, one of the most highly rated foldable phones in the past year, is expected to receive a successor soon. According to information from a leaker, the OnePlus Open 2 will be launched in the first quarter of 2025. This new device will be known as the Oppo Find N5 in China and as the OnePlus Open 2 in other regions. It is noteworthy that the original model, OnePlus Open, was introduced in the Chinese market under the name Oppo Find N3.
Additionally, it is rumored that the Oppo Find N5/OnePlus Open 2 could be the first foldable phone equipped with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The device is expected to feature a circular camera module, a thickness of approximately 9 mm, and a 2K main display, similar to its predecessor. Speculations also mention it will have a 50 MP main camera from Sony, a second periscope camera, and a third "mystery" lens. For context, the current OnePlus Open has a 48 MP main camera, a 64 MP telephoto lens, and a 48 MP ultra-wide lens.
Rumors about the OnePlus Open 2 started to emerge last spring, and it now seems that some of these rumors are being confirmed. Reviews of the OnePlus Open noted that the device's hinge was not firm enough and that the camera bump was excessive, along with concerns about the quality of the 120X macro and Super Res cameras. These aspects are expected to be improved in the new model.
Currently, Oppo and OnePlus are in an active launch phase, as the OnePlus 13 is anticipated, with rumors suggesting an early global release, possibly even before in China. This upcoming model could become the first phone in the world to incorporate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Upon its market release, the OnePlus Open 2 will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the recently launched Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
