The new Potensic Atom 2 is a beginner drone that competes with the DJI Mini 4K and offers outstanding flight features.

Our top DJI choice for beginners receives an upgrade.

Potensic has introduced the Atom 2, an update to the Potensic Atom drone, designed for beginners. This new model is priced at $329, while the Fly More package, which includes additional accessories, is sold for $449, although prices for the UK and Australia have yet to be confirmed.

Key features of the Atom 2 include 4K HDR video stabilized by a gimbal, 48MP photographs, and a transmission range of up to 10 km. This drone is presented as a solid alternative to DJI models, especially the Mini 4K, thanks to its refinement and multiple improvements, although it does not bring major disruptive innovations.

The Atom 2 offers various useful functions, such as a high-end video recording mode, subject tracking via artificial intelligence, and a night mode for capturing images in low-light conditions. Additionally, it has the capability to perform panoramic shots and the popular Dolly Zoom effect, which allows for the creation of cinematic sequences easily.

Another significant addition is the introduction of a post-sale customer service, which allows for easy device exchanges and professional assistance. While it is unclear if this service will be available for other models, it is expected to provide peace of mind to new users of the Atom 2.

The new drone is equipped with a 12MP Sony CMOS sensor, a brighter f/1.8 lens, and a new HDR video mode. Potensic has also announced a future firmware update that will include the option for log video recording, allowing for more detail in images and making post-editing easier to match the user’s visual style preferences.

The launch date for the Atom 2 is still unknown, and the model has not yet been tested, but more details are expected to be revealed soon.
