Gemini Live could soon offer real-time subtitles for people with hearing disabilities.
Google's Gemini Live may soon implement a new feature that will allow more people to benefit from its use.
Gemini Live offers a more interactive and conversational experience compared to traditional voice assistants, allowing for smooth and natural chats with artificial intelligence. However, this functionality presents a considerable disadvantage that has disheartened some of its early users. Just like in everyday conversations, Gemini Live operates exclusively through voice commands. For example, if you ask, "Who won the Super Bowl?", Gemini Live responds, "The Philadelphia Eagles." Unfortunately, maintaining this type of dialogue becomes complicated in noisy environments and is entirely unfeasible for people with hearing disabilities.
Recently, new features have been discovered in the beta version of the Google app (version 16.6.23), suggesting that users will soon be able to access a button to generate real-time captions for responses from Gemini Live. This new feature will be activated through the "caption preferences" in the Gemini settings, also allowing users to adjust the size and style of the captions. Previously available only to Gemini Advanced users, Gemini Live is now accessible for free to Android and iOS users.
Google Gemini is presented as a useful platform for exchanging ideas, event planning, and creating business proposals. It enables collaborative interaction, facilitating the collection of diverse thoughts and perceptions simultaneously. Users can include images or videos to clarify concepts and energize discussions. From organizing a corporate event to launching a product, Google Gemini offers tools that enrich conversations. It also allows for setting deadlines, assigning tasks, and tracking progress, helping to maintain alignment and accountability throughout the planning process.
Despite being a standout tool, the dynamic of conversing with an AI assistant can be disconcerting, especially in the presence of other people. The inclusion of captions would make it easier for more users to benefit from Gemini Live, making its use much less awkward. It is important to note that the caption feature for Gemini Live has not yet been released to the general public, remaining in beta phase.
