Additional charges for your phone or a large amount of power for your headphones.
HMD has introduced a new pair of wireless earbuds called Amped Buds, which feature a case that also functions as a backup battery for mobile devices. This case, which utilizes reverse wireless charging via Qi2, allows you to recharge your phone while on the go. With a slim design and a 1,600mAh battery, the case provides enough power to last through the end of the day. The Amped Buds will be priced at €199 (approximately $206) and are set to launch in April, although their availability in the United States has not yet been confirmed.
These earbuds offer active noise cancellation as well as environmental noise cancellation. The case has an IPX4 rating, ensuring some resistance to dust, while the earbuds themselves are splash-proof with an IP54 rating. The 14mm thick case allows the earbuds to be inserted directly for charging, and it features a spring mechanism that ensures a satisfying experience when taking them in or out of the case.
The Amped Buds come in a cyan case, which is also available in black and pink colors. With Qi2 compatibility, they can magnetically connect to phones that use this system or are compatible with MagSafe, ensuring a secure fit during charging. It also includes a USB port for wired charging. Furthermore, the case can charge the earbuds more than ten times, offering up to 95 hours of music playback before the case itself needs to be recharged.
This new concept is intuitive and practical, as many users are already accustomed to carrying their wireless earbuds, and having an additional battery on hand can be extremely useful. The launch of the Amped Buds took place at MWC, where HMD also introduced a phone branded with FC Barcelona and another focused on teen safety, developed in collaboration with the children's smartwatch manufacturer, Xplora. However, these earbuds stand out as one of the company's most interesting offerings.
