The new game from Remedy is FBC: Firebreak, a cooperative shooter in the Control universe.

After an extensive journey filled with ups and downs, Remedy Entertainment has unveiled FBC: Firebreak, its new multiplayer installment that follows the successful game Control.

Remedy Entertainment has announced its new multiplayer game, which is a sequel to the title Control. FBC: Firebreak is designed for teams of three players who must face waves of enemies using a diverse arsenal of weapons. The trailer showcases, for instance, a machine gun that fires a viscous poison, as well as a weapon with a launcher piston at the front for aerial attacks.

The game is set in the same universe as Control and Alan Wake II, allowing players to explore more of this surreal environment. The trailer features intense shootouts in familiar locations, such as the Federal Bureau of Control and the Old Building, which will be recognizable to those who have played Control and its additional content. However, it is important to note that FBC: Firebreak is not considered a direct sequel to the acclaimed psychological title. According to Game Director Mike Kayatta, it can be classified as a “spin-off” in the most positive sense, emphasizing that it is not an inferior or reduced version of Control, but rather a completely independent experience.

The idea of a cooperative project was anticipated by the studio since 2021. Over time, Firebreak has evolved and been refined from its initial concept, which was announced alongside 505 Games. At that time, Remedy was also working on a free cooperative shooter with Tencent, known as Project Vanguard, which was canceled in 2023. The duo attempted to reframe the game as a premium title, but this effort did not succeed.

FBC: Firebreak is scheduled to be released in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Remedy confirmed that the game will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from its launch, as well as in the PlayStation Plus catalog for Extra and Premium members.
