Retro video game lovers have many surprises to look forward to in 2025.

Retro video game enthusiasts have 50 exciting games to look forward to in 2025, including remasters, remakes, reinterpretations, and entirely new titles.

The year 2025 is shaping up to be a great year for retro video game enthusiasts, with a wide range of titles spanning from remakes and remasters to revivals of franchises and games inspired by classics. This year, while titles like Ghost of Yotei and Grand Theft Auto VI will dominate the mainstream conversation in the gaming world, remasters like Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and reinterpretations like Double Dragon Revive and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, along with indie titles like Demonschool, promise to be equally appealing.

Across the industry, multiple games celebrating the nostalgia of retro gaming are in development, which may make it challenging to keep track of them all. To help with this, a compilation of 50 remakes, remasters, and revivals scheduled for release in 2025 has been gathered. If you consider yourself a retro video game lover, you'll have plenty of options available this year.

In terms of remasters, it will start off with Ys Memorie: The Oath in Felghana on January 7, in addition to other titles also expected. Digital Eclipse, known for its collections of retro video games, will release Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, which will include several Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games, scheduled for February 27. Meanwhile, Nightdive Studios has upcoming remasters of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition and SiN Reloaded, while Limited Run Games plans to bring back several Square Enix franchises and more.

Additionally, Aspyr will release Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles on January 23 and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered on February 14. Classics like Power Stone and Capcom vs. SNK will have their chance to reemerge in Capcom Fighting Collection 2, while lesser-known games like Shounen Ninja Sasuke will be re-released on Steam as Justice Ninja Casey.

In the realm of remakes, there is Amerzone — The Explorer’s Legacy, a classic adventure game that will receive a new version in the second quarter of 2025. Square Enix will also join this trend with the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest I & II. A standout project is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which promises to revitalize one of the most acclaimed titles, although expectations are high and challenges significant.

Regarding revivals, multiple reinterpretations of classic series have been announced. Some of the most exciting include Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a new 2D platformer, and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, set to be released on April 24. Additionally, the return of franchises like Mafia and Fable is planned, along with the launch of new games in 2025 that capture the essence of retro gaming.

On the other hand, indie titles with retro aesthetics are also poised to give rise to new experiences. Games like Demonschool, reminiscent of the aesthetics of early Persona titles, and Agent 64: Spies Never Die, inspired by Goldeneye 007, are on the way. Other interesting titles include the visual novel OMEGA 6 The Triangle Stars and the pixel art action game Blade Chimera.

With such a variety of titles in development, 2025 promises to be a rich year for content that pays tribute to the golden era of video games and offers new and exciting experiences for retro enthusiasts.
