Red Dead Redemption makes its PC debut 14 years after its original release.

Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption will be available on Steam.

Red Dead Redemption, the acclaimed open-world role-playing game that launched the iconic western saga, is set to be released on PC for the first time after more than 14 years since its original debut. Rockstar Games has confirmed that both Red Dead Redemption and the standalone zombie title, Undead Nightmare, will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Rockstar Store starting October 29 in a single package.

Players will receive additional content from the Game of the Year edition, although the company has not provided specific details about it. This project is the result of collaboration between Rockstar and the studio Double Eleven, which specializes in ports and remasters. While pre-orders are not yet available, interested players can add the game to their wishlist on Steam if they prefer that platform.

In addition to the game launches, Rockstar has included the traditional PC enhancements. These include native 4K resolution of up to 144 Hz, support for ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitors, as well as support for Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR technologies. Features such as DLSS frame generation, HDR10, and full mouse and keyboard compatibility will also be added. Players will be able to adjust the draw distance and shadow quality, putting this version on par with its sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, which has been available on PC since 2019.

As for system requirements, no cutting-edge hardware will be necessary to enjoy the game. According to the information on Steam, it is recommended to have an Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500X processor, 8 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 2070 or AMD RX 5700 XT graphics card, along with 12 GB of storage space. It’s important to mention that, despite being available on various PC platforms, players will need to have a Rockstar Games account to access the game.

Red Dead Redemption has been available on modern consoles thanks to backward compatibility on Xbox and a relaunch in 2023 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. However, these versions did not feature visual enhancements and ran at 30 frames per second, although PlayStation 5 later added a 60 fps option.
