Nintendo invites fans to complete one million laps in Mario Kart 8.
From March 7 to 17, Nintendo encourages fans to complete a total of one million laps in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Nintendo has announced a community event to celebrate Mario Day on March 10, encouraging players to complete a million laps across the various circuits of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This challenge will take place from March 7 to March 17, and participants can enjoy a free 14-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online to join the competition. Those who take part in the event can earn up to 310 Platinum Points as a reward. To participate, players simply need to launch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, access the online play option, select "Tournaments," and search for the code 1152-2501-4827 before they start competing. Laps are counted based on the number of players in each race, meaning a three-lap race with 12 racers would result in a total of 36 laps counted. This implies that reaching a million laps should not be a daunting task, especially if players choose multi-lap circuits like Baby Park.
Additionally, Nintendo has introduced a Super Mario-themed tote bag and a license holder for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as potential physical rewards that can be redeemed with the points earned. This event is just one of the ways the company aims to celebrate its most iconic character, as it has planned various activities for 2025, including a JetBlue plane decorated with Mario characters and the availability of Mario games on board. There will also be giveaways for visiting Super Nintendo World, and an alarm clock will be launched on March 9.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with its recent final downloadable content, reaffirms its position as a classic in the multiplayer realm. Originally released on the Wii U, the game made a significant impact and, after its re-launch on the Nintendo Switch as Deluxe, received new content and additional modes that made it one of the console's most successful titles. This title has elevated the franchise's profile over nearly a decade.
Regarding other games, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has significantly improved the integration of multiplayer features compared to other Nintendo titles. Players can easily join online, enabling a cooperative mode that allows four players to work together in levels in a fun and dynamic way.
