The developers of Yooka-Replaylee are hinting at a possible arrival of Switch 2.

Playtonic has released a new trailer for Yooka-Replaylee and is generating great anticipation for a future release on a Nintendo platform through their social media.

Yooka-Replaylee is shaping up to be the second confirmed title for the Nintendo Switch 2, according to some recent hints provided by the developer. Playtonic Games, which was responsible for creating Yooka-Laylee and this remaster, released a trailer announcing the game’s arrival on various consoles, after initially only presenting the Steam page for PC.

In the trailer, which can be viewed, the launch devices are mentioned: Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. However, between the PS5 and PC logos, a Nintendo logo is presented ambiguously, which, although on its own does not imply much, is reinforced by Playtonic’s reaffirmation on their official account on X, where Nintendo was particularly highlighted. In a press release, the company also indicated that the game would come to "Nintendo platforms."

"Experience the definitive version of Yooka and Laylee’s first adventure on the platform of your choice when the game launches on... wait, is it too early for that?" reads the statement. Besides the PC version, it is confirmed that Yooka-Replaylee will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and... Nintendo. The trailer showcases impressive 3D gameplay, new characters, and beautiful orchestral music.

Although Nintendo has not made an official announcement regarding the Switch 2, other developers have started to hint at future releases for this platform. In a recent Kickstarter campaign for My Time at Evershine, developer Pathea Games was the first to confirm that their game will be available for "next-generation Nintendo consoles," adding that backers will receive a code for Switch 1 if Switch 2 is not available at launch. The game will also see a release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with the mention of "Nintendo platforms" indicating the language being aligned for the new consoles.

Yooka-Replaylee is the "enhanced and definitive" version of Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie released in 2017, developed by a team that includes former Rare employees. This game, which pays tribute to 3D classics, has been positively evaluated for its ability to evoke the feelings of Banjo-Kazooie, although it has been criticized for not offering significant innovations. However, Playtonic is incorporating numerous new features in this remaster, such as new characters, a new currency, improved resolution graphics, and a series of enhancements to previously known challenges. A quest tracker has also been added to a new world map, along with a rearranged soundtrack. Currently, there is no specific release date.
