Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and former richest man in the world, has reclaimed the second spot on the list of the wealthiest after selling $3 billion worth of shares in his company. This move comes amid a significant rise in the company’s stock price, which has reached $200 per share. According to regulatory filings, Bezos sold over 16 million shares, totaling approximately $3,048,501,168.
So far in 2024, Bezos’s stock sales in Amazon have totaled an impressive $13 billion. From 2017 to 2021, Bezos held the top position in terms of wealth until Elon Musk surpassed him. Currently, on Bloomberg's billionaire index, Musk leads with a net worth of $262 billion, followed by Bezos with a net worth of $220 billion, and Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Meta, in third place with $201 billion.
Meanwhile, Forbes’ real-time billionaire index shows Musk in first place with a net worth of $263 billion, while Larry Ellison of Oracle holds the third spot with $207.1 billion. Mark Zuckerberg, who was previously in second place on Forbes, has fallen to fourth with a net worth of $196.2 billion, leaving Bezos in second place with an estimated net worth of $215 billion. In fifth place is Bernard Arnault of LVMH, with a net worth of $170.9 billion.
