Is Marvel Rivals a cross-platform game?

Marvel Rivals brings together heroes and villains from the Marvel universe, but the question arises: will you be able to play with friends on different platforms? The ability to be a cross-platform game is crucial for a hero shooter seeking to stand out against other titles like Overwatch 2 or Apex Legends. Although it is common for Marvel games to be exclusive, in this specific case, Marvel Rivals is shaping up to be one of the most promising shooters on PC and consoles.

Regarding its cross-platform support, Marvel Rivals presents a somewhat divided landscape. On one hand, the game allows full crossplay, where players from PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S can join together in almost all game modes. However, there is one notable exception: in Competitive mode, PC players can only compete among themselves to prevent advantages over console players who are using controllers.

One current limitation of Marvel Rivals is the lack of cross-progression. This means that, although the game is free-to-play, there is no option to carry progress from one platform to another if you decide to switch devices. Nevertheless, the NetEase team has shown interest in improving this situation and has expressed that they are willing to work on it if the community requests it.

Additionally, the availability of other Marvel games is mentioned, such as Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which has been recently promoted on Amazon Prime Gaming. Although it received positive critical reception and outstanding storytelling, it failed to meet sales expectations after its release in 2021.
