Humane reduces the price of its AI Pin after low sales.
A price reduction of $200 was applied.
Humane has decided to reduce the price of the AI Pin by $200 in an effort to improve the device's low sales. Launched earlier this year at a price of $699, it is now available starting at $499. This model, called "eclipse," features a matte black anodized aluminum finish, although it does not include an additional battery or a charging case. The decision to omit the case was made because the company warned that some of the battery components from its supplier could pose a fire risk.
Despite the price reduction, an extra battery can be purchased separately for $69. Additionally, it is important to note that the AI Pin still requires a monthly wireless subscription of $24. Since its launch, the device has received unfavorable reviews, and in the following months, Humane has implemented updates to the CosmOS software to incorporate features that were initially missing, such as timers.
The AI Pin has faced serious challenges in capturing consumers' attention; in fact, during certain periods of the year, the number of daily returns exceeded sales. The Humane store also offers AI Pin models in white and black with polished aluminum (referred to as "lunar" and "equinox") available for $799 as part of a "complete system," although both models are currently sold out.
