How to Check if Your Graphics Card is Missing ROPs.

Do you have a new RTX 50 series graphics card? Here’s how to check if your card lacks ROPs and is affecting its performance.

If you have purchased an Nvidia RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti graphics card or are expecting the upcoming RTX 5070, it is recommended that you check if your device has a hardware defect related to the lack of ROPs, which could negatively impact its performance. It is estimated that up to 0.5% of all cards sold may have this issue, potentially resulting in a loss of up to 11% in raw gaming performance. Below is the process to check if your card is affected and if you are eligible for a manufacturer replacement.

To verify the ROPs of your GPU, you can use the CPU-Z program, which has been updated to include a specific validation tool to identify missing ROPs.

  1. Download the latest version of CPU-Z from the official site and install it like any other application.
  2. Run CPU-Z and press the Validate button. When prompted, choose the Send option.
  3. Scroll down to the "Graphics (GPU)" section and look near "GPU Units." If any ROP is missing, a warning message will appear indicating the actual number of ROPs that your card has.

Alternatively, you can use GPU-Z to find out the number of ROPs in your card, although this program will not generate warnings, so you will have to make the comparison yourself. If you discover that ROPs are missing, it is advisable to contact your GPU manufacturer to request a refund or a replacement.
