Reasons to Consider Avoiding the Latest Nvidia Driver Update.
Users of Corsair iCUE or Bluestacks should consider skipping the recent Nvidia driver update.
Recently, Nvidia released an update for its GeForce drivers 566.03 WHQL, and the company has identified an unusual issue. According to a report, users using Corsair's iCUE software and Bluestacks may experience "higher than normal CPU usage." As a result, it is recommended that they do not upgrade to the latest version of the graphics drivers.
Corsair's iCUE software allows users to manage compatible hardware from a single interface, making it easier to control RGB lighting, fan speeds, create macros, and monitor system performance. On the other hand, Bluestacks acts as an Android emulator on Windows, being especially useful in gaming and app development. While it is unusual for a GPU driver to cause high CPU usage, the performance drop should not be noticeable since modern processors are very fast.
Corsair has taken note of the issue and suggests that users roll back to version 561.09 of the GeForce drivers, at least until Nvidia finds a solution. To revert Nvidia drivers, a procedure can be followed through the Device Manager, which is the quickest way to go back to a previous version. First, you need to open the Device Manager and expand the Display adapters section. Then, right-click on the Nvidia GPU and select Properties, navigating to the Driver tab, where the Roll Back Driver button can be found, available only if a newer driver has been installed recently.
Another option to revert to previous driver versions is to manually download and install the desired version. However, it is recommended to use a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to ensure a complete removal of the problematic driver. To do this, DDU should be downloaded from a reliable source and run in Safe Mode, ensuring that no remnants of the current driver remain. Then, you can visit the Nvidia driver archive to download the older version and during installation, select the Custom (Advanced) option and check the clean installation box.
