Here come the first wireless speakers compatible with Wii.

The first wireless speakers from Wiim have been manufactured by the Swedish audio company Audio Pro.

Wiim has established a collaboration with the Swedish audio company Audio Pro to launch its first wireless speakers incorporating Wiim OS, the company's multi-room audio streaming software. The new models, the Audio Pro A10 MKII Wiim Edition with 50 watts, priced at $229, and the C10 MKII Wiim Edition with 80 watts, costing $399, are practically equivalent to the non-Wiim versions that Audio Pro already offers. Both, available in dark gray and black, are now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Since Wiim introduced its affordable line of network music players, starting with the Wiim Mini in 2022, it has become clear that the company aims to compete with Sonos. Every product launch to date, including the Wiim Pro, Wiim Pro Plus, Wiim Amp, and Wiim Ultra, has incorporated more features and higher quality components. However, the lack of wireless speakers in its catalog made it difficult for loyal Sonos users to consider switching to this new platform. The need to develop its own line of wireless speakers was evident. Although creating speakers with good sound quality presents a significant engineering challenge, partnering with an established manufacturer like Audio Pro accelerates the process and highlights a key difference between Wiim and Sonos. While Sonos designs all its own products, Wiim is willing to collaborate with third parties to expand its ecosystem of compatible products.

The Audio Pro A10 MK II Wiim Edition and C10 MK II Wiim Edition speakers can be controlled via the Wiim Home app, which also provides access to various popular music platforms such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, and Qobuz. Users can also access their personal music collection stored on a network-attached storage device. Both speakers allow direct streaming over Wi-Fi from compatible devices using Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, DLNA, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect, and also feature Bluetooth. Wiim claims that these speakers can process high-resolution audio up to 32-bit/192kHz, and support continuous playback of up to 24-bit/192kHz. The company plans to include Automatic Room Correction and Advanced Bass Management features through a future firmware update. Although they do not have microphones, they are compatible with devices using Google Assistant and Siri, enabling voice control within those ecosystems.

Interestingly, these Audio Pro models are compatible with Audio Pro's own multi-room audio platform, providing current brand users with options regarding the software they prefer to use.

The A10 MK II, with 50 watts and a cylindrical design, is a mono speaker that features two amplifiers, a 1.25-inch tweeter, a 3-inch long-throw woofer, and two 4.5-inch passive radiators. It includes power/standby controls, source selection (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Aux), play/pause, volume, reset, and Bluetooth pairing, as well as four preset buttons for playlists, radio, or routines. It also has a 3.5mm analog input for connecting various external sources like turntables, and the Wiim Home app allows sharing these connected sources among all Wiim devices. Additionally, it has a threaded mount on the back that allows it to be wall-mounted, with wall and ceiling mount options available from Audio Pro.

On the other hand, the C10 is designed as a tabletop speaker, with 80 watts distributed through three amplifiers to two 0.75-inch tweeters and one 5.25-inch long-throw woofer. Its controls on the top are similar to those of the A10, but it includes six preset buttons instead of four. The fabric grille is magnetically adjustable, making it easy to remove if the exposed drivers' look is preferred. Unlike the A10, the C10 has stereo RCA ports, simplifying the connection of analog sources with standard cables, and also includes a dedicated subwoofer output, making it a more versatile option for larger rooms.
