Guide to Using the Audio Eraser on the Google Pixel.
Audio Magic Eraser allows you to use your Google Pixel to quickly and easily remove unwanted noises from videos. Would you like to know how it works? Here’s how it works.
Audio Magic Eraser is an innovative tool designed for Android smartphones, aimed at enhancing the audio quality of videos by eliminating unwanted background noise. This functionality employs advanced artificial intelligence technology, capable of identifying and reducing distracting sounds such as wind, conversations, or sudden noises, allowing for a clearer and more focused listening experience. Currently, this feature is available almost exclusively on the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 9 smartphone series.
For those who do not own a Pixel device, it is rumored that Samsung may be working on a similar tool for some of its upcoming models. Whether recording a special event or capturing a moment outdoors, this feature ensures that the audio remains clear and engaging.
The Audio Magic Eraser tool is directly integrated into the Google Photos app for easy access. It intelligently analyzes videos to identify different sound elements, such as dialogue, music, and background noise. Users can selectively reduce or eliminate distracting sounds while enhancing the desired sounds, contributing to clearer audio and making videos sound sharper and more focused.
Regarding availability, although Audio Magic Eraser was initially launched with the Pixel 8, it has not yet been implemented in other Pixel models. However, it is expected to arrive on Samsung phones, starting with the Galaxy S25. For now, the only devices that support this feature are:
- Google Pixel 8
- Google Pixel 8 Pro
- Google Pixel 8a
- Google Pixel 9
- Google Pixel 9 Pro
- Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
To use Audio Magic Eraser, users should follow these steps:
-
Open Google Photos and select the video you want to edit.
-
Tap the Edit button at the bottom of the screen.
-
Slide horizontally through the editing options until you find the Audio tab and select it.
-
Choose the Audio Eraser button; your phone will begin analyzing the video's audio, which may take a few minutes depending on its length.
-
Adjust the audio using the Automatic or Manual option. With the Automatic option, Google’s AI will reduce background noise, while with the Manual option, you can choose between Music or Noise and make gradual adjustments to your liking. You can listen to the changes by pressing the Play button.
-
Finally, select Save a copy to complete the process.
The effectiveness of Audio Magic Eraser depends on the quality of the original video and the types of sounds present in it. It works best when there are clear differences between the sounds you want to keep and those you wish to eliminate. It is recommended to experiment with different settings and listen to the changes before saving, as the adjustments can be subtle. This feature is relatively new and it is expected that Google will continue to improve its accuracy and capabilities in the future.
