Guide to Creating a Custom Camera Filter on a Samsung Galaxy Phone
Although you cannot immediately modify settings like saturation and contrast, there is an alternative to achieve this.
Samsung phones are recognized for the outstanding quality of their cameras, and their camera app includes a variety of filters that allow users to enhance their photographs through preset adjustments for contrast, saturation, and other settings. However, if the available filters do not fully meet your needs, Samsung offers the option to create a custom filter based on an image from your gallery.
To create and save a custom camera filter on your Samsung device, follow these steps:
- Open the Camera app on your phone.
- Swipe to Photo mode.
- Tap the three overlapping circles in the top right corner to access the filter menu.
- Press the plus (+) symbol next to the filter options.
- Select an image from your gallery that you want to use as the basis for your custom filter.
- A camera view will appear showing your new filter, along with the image you selected. You can tap the camera view to see it without the filter and release to reactivate it. If you want the filter to be based on a specific section of the image, you can tap it and drag the corners to redefine the reference area. Additionally, you can tap the filter name to rename it and select "Rename" to confirm the change.
- Finally, tap "Done" to finish and save your filter.
It is worth mentioning that currently, Samsung does not allow you to create a custom filter by manually adjusting settings like color temperature, contrast, and saturation with sliders. However, you can modify these settings on a pre-existing filter. Simply select the filter you want to edit, tap the value you wish to change in the bar under the filter name, and drag the slider to make the adjustment. The Camera app will save these changes, so you won't have to readjust them for future photos. You can also tap the reset button next to the filter name to undo changes.
Samsung mentions that you can create up to 99 custom filters, which seems like an excessive number to manage effectively. However, this filter feature is not available in all resolution and aspect ratio settings. If your filter icon appears grayed out, try lowering the camera resolution.
