The new rule verification feature on Reddit will help users avoid violating subreddit guidelines.
Reddit has introduced a series of new tools aimed at encouraging more observers to engage in conversations on the site.
Reddit has introduced several new tools that appear to be designed to motivate users who prefer to observe without participating to engage more in the discussions on the site. One of these tools, called Rule Review, will make it easier to identify posts that may violate the rules of a subreddit. Before submitting a post, users can click on a wand icon in the lower right corner of the post composer. Doing so will highlight any part of the content that potentially violates the rules of the relevant subreddit. Reddit will begin testing this feature on iOS and Android platforms before rolling it out more widely.
Another tool known as Post Recovery will send a notice if a post has been removed for violating community rules. This notification will include a removal message and a link that allows users to quickly share the deleted post in a more appropriate subreddit. To help users post in the correct community from the start, Reddit will now suggest relevant communities based on the content being written, through a dropdown menu located in the upper left corner of the composer. Additionally, it will display if a community has certain requirements, such as account age or a minimum karma score, before allowing a post to be submitted.
Finally, the last tool may be particularly useful for those promoting products and services on Reddit. Post Analytics will provide insights into how many views, upvotes, shares, and reposts the submissions have received, giving a sense of what type of content generates the most engagement. All of these tools, except for Rule Review, are already available on Reddit's website and mobile app.
