Google replaces the executive responsible for Search and ads.

Nick Fox will take over the leadership of Google's main divisions.

In a recent internal communication directed to employees, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, announced a significant shift in the company’s direction. Prabhakar Raghavan, who has been a senior vice president in charge of search, advertising, and other key segments, will take on the new position of Chief Technologist. According to Pichai, Raghavan has decided that it is the right time to advance his professional career. After 12 years leading various teams at Google, he will return to his roots in computer science and focus on providing technical direction and leadership in his new role, working closely with Pichai and other company leaders to foster a culture of technological excellence.

Since 2018, Raghavan has overseen advertising and commerce, and in 2020 he was promoted to lead Google Search and Assistant. Nick Fox, who was part of Raghavan's leadership team, will take on the responsibility of directing the search, advertising, geo, and commerce divisions at Google. Fox has been instrumental in launching products such as Google Fi and RCS messaging.

In addition to this change, Google is restructuring other teams. The division responsible for the Gemini app, led by Sissie Hsaio, will be integrated into Google DeepMind under the leadership of Demis Hassabis. Furthermore, the Google Assistant team will join Google’s platforms and devices team.

This move comes at a crucial time for the company, which is working intensely to solidify its position in the field of artificial intelligence. At the same time, Google faces the possibility of being split up by the U.S. government after declaring its search business a monopoly.
