Ford expands its free home electric vehicle charging promotion.
Ford is reaching record figures in electric vehicle sales.
In October, Ford launched its "Power Promise" initiative, which offered buyers of new electric vehicles a home charger at no cost with installation included. This promotion was scheduled to end on January 2, but the company has now decided to extend it until the early months of 2025.
Starting today, the Power Promise promotion will be available until March 31, 2025, allowing customers in the United States who purchase a 2024 or 2025 Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit to take advantage of all available benefits. These advantages include the home charger with "standard" installation, 24/7 customer assistance for charging inquiries, and free roadside assistance.
The extension of the Power Promise promotion comes after Ford's "best quarter in history" for electric vehicle sales, according to spokesperson Susannah Evans. Sales of the Mustang Mach-E increased by 27% with 51,745 units sold in 2024 compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the F-150 Lightning saw a 39% increase, reaching 33,510 units, while the E-Transit experienced a 64% rise with 12,610 units sold. The Mustang Mach-E set a record in the fourth quarter with 16,119 units sold and is the second best-selling electric SUV in the United States, behind the Tesla Model Y. In total, Ford sold 97,865 pure electric vehicles in 2024, although it still lags behind GM, which delivered 114,400 vehicles in the same period.
Stacey Ferreira, the retail sales director of Ford's Model e division, mentioned on LinkedIn that customers have expressed high satisfaction with this program, which has an average time of 11 days from quote to installation. Ferreira added that approximately 85% of the free home charger installations are considered "standard installations," meaning no out-of-pocket costs were required.
