Death Stranding Surprises by Arriving on Xbox Series X/S
Death Stranding, the game by Hideo Kojima, has been unexpectedly released for Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna+. In celebration of the game's fifth anniversary, it is available on sale across various platforms.
Owners of Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna+ subscribers can now enjoy hours of gameplay in Death Stranding, a title that has surprised many. This game, created by Hideo Kojima, has made an unexpected arrival on these platforms just in time for its fifth anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, the Director’s Cut edition of Death Stranding is available at a 50 percent discount on Xbox, PC, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. However, this offer does not apply to PlayStation, where the game was originally released in 2019. On this last platform, the game is available through PS Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions.
Amazon Prime members will also be able to stream the Director's Cut edition on Luna at no additional cost throughout December, maintaining access to Luna+ even into the new year.
In Death Stranding, players take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, a messenger seeking to reconnect the last survivors of America after a cataclysmic event that blurs the line between the living and the dead. Bridges carries an unborn fetus in a jar, which helps him detect creatures from beyond. This unusual narrative has made this game one of the most memorable experiences of the last decade.
In addition to the surprise release for Xbox and Luna+ and the anniversary discount, Kojima Productions has announced that it now fully owns the intellectual property of Death Stranding. Previously, Sony, which financed the original game, held a stake in the property.
A sequel to Death Stranding is being developed, which will be exclusive to PS5 and published by Sony. It is expected to arrive next year, and more information is likely to be revealed at The Game Awards next month. A movie based on the game is also in the works, while Kojima Productions is working on other projects, including a horror title for Xbox called OD and an action and espionage game for PlayStation.
