Avatar Designer: Fire and Ash Teases an "Epic Battle" in the Upcoming Sequel.
After the epic battle that concluded Avatar: The Way of Water, the team behind the sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is ramping up the scale of the production.
In 2022, James Cameron returned to the fascinating world of Pandora with the movie "Avatar: The Way of Water." The film culminated in an impressive battle between the Na’vi and the invading humans in the ocean. In this confrontation, the Resource Development Administration (RDA) used a massive ship called SeaDragon to besiege Pandora, which was ultimately destroyed by the Na’vi and a whale-like creature known as Tulkun.
This year, the RDA is preparing to counterattack in "Avatar: Fire and Ash," as revealed by production designer Ben Procter. Procter stated that audiences will witness "an aerial and maritime battle that will mark an era," in which the forces of Pandora will face the RDA once again in a truly interesting setting. He explained that this combat would make the final fight in "The Way of Water" seem "just a minor encounter." Furthermore, he noted that the RDA would return to Pandora with a Fabrica ship that is twice the size of the SeaDragon vessels, describing it as “a mobile oil platform designed to capture and process Tulkun on a large scale.”
“From these vehicles, an army will emerge, leading to a war,” Procter added. “By the end of Avatar 3, what we will see will have a scale of conflict that we have not witnessed before.” James Cameron previously hinted at the introduction of two new Na’vi tribes in the sequel, including the Ash (Mangkwan) and the Wind Traders (Tlalim). "Avatar: Fire & Ash" is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 15 and is expected to perform exceptionally well in IMAX format as well.
Over the years, Cameron has established himself as a benchmark in the film industry, having exceeded expectations with projects such as "Titanic" and "Avatar," which remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time to this day. Cameron's fascination with exploration continues with his involvement in the National Geographic series "Super/Natural," which aims to showcase the lives of extraordinary creatures on the planet using technological and scientific advancements.
