Avatar 3: James Cameron Hints at Details about Pandora, the Ash Clan, and the Wind Traders.

In a series of interviews, James Cameron teased what Avatar 3 will offer, mentioning the inclusion of new Na'vi clans in the upcoming film.

In 2025, Avatar fans can finally look forward to the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment of the saga. This year, James Cameron will take the audience back to Pandora after introducing the Metkayina clan in Avatar: The Way of Water. In this new film, the director introduces two new groups of Na’vi: the Mangkwan and the Tlalim.

The Mangkwan, also known as the People of Ash, are led by Varang, a character played by Oona Chaplin. Cameron has mentioned that this group has suffered greatly and will become a threat to Jake Sully and his community. "Varang is the leader of a people who have faced significant adversities. Her strength has been forged from this," Cameron explained, highlighting his intention to present the characters' complexity away from a Manichean approach.

On the other hand, the Tlalim clan, known as the Wind Traders, has a friendlier nature. This group lives on enormous creatures that float above the clouds. Peylak, one of the Wind Traders, will be played by David Thewlis. Cameron described the Tlalim as nomadic traders, comparing their lifestyle to the camel caravans of the Spice Route in the Middle Ages. "They have fun and, like all Na’vi, maintain a symbiotic relationship with their creatures," the director added.

The return of the RDA (Resources Development Administration), for its part, will not be overlooked in Avatar 3. After Jake Sully and his team achieved victories in the previous film, the RDA seeks to regain the upper hand. Production designer Ben Procter revealed that Fire and Ash will include a battle sequence that will make The Way of Water's conflicts seem like small skirmishes. "By the end of Avatar 3, the scale of the conflict will be something we've never seen before," Procter assured.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to be released in theaters on December 19, 2025.
