Amit Yoran, a prominent entrepreneur and executive in the cybersecurity sector, passed away last Friday after a battle with cancer. The cybersecurity company Tenable, where he served as CEO and president, announced his death through an official statement.
Before taking on the CEO role at Tenable in 2016, Yoran held several key positions, including president at RSA, founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel. Art Coviello, lead independent director of Tenable, referred to Yoran as "an extraordinary leader, colleague, and friend." Coviello emphasized that "his passion for cybersecurity, strategic vision, and ability to inspire those around him have shaped the culture and mission of Tenable. His legacy will continue to guide us as we move forward."
Tenable also reported that Yoran had taken a medical leave starting December 5. During his absence, Steve Vintz, chief financial officer, and Mark Thurmond, chief operating officer, have been appointed as co-CEOs. Both will continue in these roles while the company conducts the search for a new permanent CEO.
