Zoom wants you to abandon Microsoft Office and Google Workspace in favor of its new AI tools.

Zoom expands its Workplace software.

Zoom has introduced a new AI-powered tool called Workflow Automation, designed to assist workers with administrative and repetitive tasks, thus freeing up time for them to focus on more meaningful activities. This service is based on no-code automation templates that users can select and modify to carry out specific tasks, and it promises to be compatible with both third-party applications and the company's own software.

Wei Li, head of the chat team at Zoom, highlighted the ease of use of this feature, even for those without technical knowledge. According to Li, "empowering people with artificial intelligence to achieve more is fundamental to what we do at Zoom." The Workflow Automation tool will enable the generation of summaries after meetings; these summaries can be automatically added to Zoom documents, Google Docs, or Word and shared in a Team Chat channel, with no need for additional intervention from the employee beyond the initial setup.

Meanwhile, the California-based company, previously known for its video conferencing software and now seeking to stand out in the realm of AI-assisted productivity software, has added new features to its AI Companion tool. In a context where hybrid work is becoming increasingly common, this feature will enhance the experience in Zoom Rooms by using workers' laptop microphones to provide clearer audio, eliminating the need to invest in additional microphones in conference rooms.

Zoom also plans to add a YouTube app in Zoom meetings, allowing for native and delay-free video sharing, improving the user experience compared to the screen-sharing option, which can be more cumbersome. Additionally, support for multiple languages, including Chinese (traditional and simplified), French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Indonesian, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Dutch, enables the company to expand its reach in several of the world's most populous countries.

Zoom subscribers can access Workflow Automation at no additional cost, as long as they are using version 6.3.10 or higher of the desktop application.
