According to an industry source, companies will continue to use the WhatsApp API to send messages classified into four fundamental categories: marketing, which includes offers and new products; utility, which provides relevant information such as order updates and account balances; authentication, covering one-time passwords; and service, related to customer inquiries.
Meta has confirmed that they will introduce more detailed controls for chats with businesses, allowing users to choose not to receive marketing messages while continuing to receive those related to utility, authentication, and service. In addition to this new feature, WhatsApp already offers users tools such as the option to block, mute, archive, or categorize chats.
