This NAS features an Intel Core i3 processor and can support up to 32GB of RAM; surprisingly, it is not as expensive as one might think.
Compact and efficient storage in a small space.
The X86-P6 Pocket is a network-attached storage (NAS) device that stands out for its compact design, measuring just 100 x 100 x 58.5 mm. This small yet powerful device has the capacity to support up to four M.2 2280 SSDs, allowing for an impressive storage capacity of up to 32TB. However, performance speed is affected by the Intel Twin Lake processor, which features only nine PCIe 3.0 lanes. This means that using all four SSD slots limits transfers to PCIe 3.0 x1 per unit, while using a single SSD allows speeds of PCIe 3.0 x4.
Regarding processing power, the X86-P6 Pocket is available with two processor options: Intel N150 or Core 3 N355. It also supports up to 32GB of DDR5-4800 memory via a SODIMM slot. For connectivity, it offers two 2.5 GbE LAN ports (Intel i226-V), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports reaching speeds of 10 Gbps, and two HDMI 2.0 outputs. Additionally, it includes an M.2 B-Key slot that allows for the insertion of WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 modules, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
To manage heat, the device's compact design incorporates an aluminum heatsink and an active cooling system, with a fan located beneath the motherboard. The top cover features threaded holes for the installation of an additional fan.
The base model with the Intel N150 processor is priced at approximately $200, while the version with the Core 3 N355 retails for about $315. Users can also opt for a preconfigured model that includes storage and memory or choose to install components on their own.
