The next horror game from Bloober Team is titled Cronos: The New Dawn.

Bloober Team presented their latest project during the Xbox Partner Showcase event. The studio revealed a cinematic trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn, a new intellectual property. According to the developer, the game is “a twisted time travel story set in a relentless post-apocalyptic future.” It is a third-person survival horror title that promises a good dose of action. This direction marks a significant departure from the psychological horror games that characterize Bloober Team, such as the Layers of Fear series.

The trailer features an extended scene in which a character reminiscent of Isaac from Dead Space and a Big Daddy from Bioshock plays chess with a woman before wandering through an apocalyptic world. While some gameplay is shown, it only appears toward the end of the video.

Bloober Team notes that players will need to survive in a “deadly wasteland” and face “monstrous abominations.” Additionally, the game will combine “the unsettling atmosphere of horror with the limitless potential of science fiction,” something that the trailer seems to confirm.

Despite being announced at an Xbox event, Cronos: The New Dawn will not be exclusive to Microsoft consoles. It will be available on PC, PS5, and, of course, on Xbox Series X|S at some point in 2025. Recently, the studio also released their remake of the iconic horror game Silent Hill 2.
