Will its other features be able to compensate for the absence of Wear OS?

Honor has recently unveiled its new Android smartwatch, the Honor Watch 5 Ultra. This device stands out with its 1.5-inch AMOLED display and a titanium coating that gives it a robust and premium appearance. Additionally, it offers a battery life of up to 15 days, although it is not compatible with Wear OS.

The Honor Watch 5 Ultra, which was showcased this week at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, is part of a larger effort by the brand to establish itself as a global leader in artificial intelligence devices. This initiative includes the launch of new Honor Magic devices and a commitment to providing Android OS updates for seven years for its smartphones.

The design of the Watch 5 Ultra is particularly original, featuring angular shapes that are not found in other smartwatches. Its grade 5 titanium casing makes it lightweight and durable, similar to the material used by Apple for its premium smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Regarding the display, it includes LTPO technology and a 60Hz refresh rate, allowing for an always-on functionality and variable refresh to save battery. With a 480mAh battery, it ensures a battery life of up to 15 days with typical use.

During the presentation, it was confirmed that the price of the Honor Watch 5 Ultra will be 279 euros, which is approximately 230 pounds or 291 dollars, although prices for the UK and the US are yet to be defined. Among its standout features is a new quick health scanner, which provides an overview of health in an instant, and a healthy morning report similar to the Body Battery function found on some of the best Garmin watches.

However, one of the most notable aspects is its lack of support for Wear OS, as the Honor Watch 5 Ultra operates on the proprietary MagicOS. This may discourage some users, although its compatibility with Android and iOS devices could attract even iPhone owners.

So far, Honor has not provided information on the release date, leaving interested parties awaiting more details about the product's availability.
