The listings for used Tesla cars surged in March.
More and more Tesla owners are offering their used vehicles in response to Elon Musk's political activities.
An increasing number of Tesla owners have begun offering their used vehicles on the market. This trend arises in response to Elon Musk's political activities and the global protests they have generated. According to data from Autotrader's parent company, Cox Automotive, listings for used Tesla vehicles on Autotrader.com reached exceptional figures in March. In particular, during the last week of March, an average of over 13,000 used Teslas were recorded for sale, representing a 67% increase compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, Tesla's new vehicle sales have declined, despite other brands' electric vehicle (EV) sales increasing. In the first quarter of 2025, nearly 300,000 new EVs were sold in the United States, which marks a 10.6% increase compared to last year, according to a recent report from Kelley Blue Book. In contrast, Tesla's sales during the same period fell nearly 9% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
While manufacturers like GM and Hyundai are still lagging behind Tesla, they have begun to show signs of growth. For example, GM brands sold over 30,000 EVs in the first quarter, nearly doubling their sales volume compared to the previous year, according to Kelley Blue Book.
