General Motors has unveiled an innovative concept for an electric Corvette, designed by a new team based in Birmingham, England. This creative group has drawn inspiration from the aviation industry to develop a hypercar aesthetic, characterized by an aerodynamic and sculptural design, along with gullwing doors and an augmented display system on the windshield for the driver.

This Corvette concept arises from a "creative studio" that involves collaboration from various GM studios, according to Michael Simcoe, the company's global design vice president. The upper part of the vehicle incorporates elements from previous designs, highlighting the split-window windshield, a feature reminiscent of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray. Simcoe explained that this design emphasizes a vertical central spine that also acts as a structural element, providing a panoramic view of the road and surroundings, a concept that GM refers to as "Apex Vision."

Regarding the lower part of the vehicle, GM is focused on functionality. The conceptual Corvette integrates electric battery technology into its structure and features air channels on the sides to optimize airflow, thereby eliminating the need for large spoilers and wings. Nevertheless, for track use, the Corvette can deploy dorsal fins and has ventilation in the spoiler to enhance cornering performance through a system of aerodynamic vectors.

Additionally, the UK team is collaborating with designers in Detroit to create a new conceptual vehicle for GMC, which, according to some leaked teaser images, resembles a futuristic and spacious van, ideal for camping. This new GMC proposal is expected to be unveiled later in the year.
