The future Galaxy Ultra models from Samsung could do without an important feature.
Samsung may eliminate the integrated S Pen in future Galaxy Ultra devices.
Over the past few years, Samsung's Galaxy S series has consisted of the standard model, the Plus model, and the Ultra model. Previously, there was also the Galaxy Note series, which was characterized by its large screen and compatibility with the brand's S Pen stylus. However, following the discontinuation of the Note series in 2021, the Galaxy Ultra took center stage by offering a wide display and an integrated S Pen.
Recently, reports have circulated suggesting that this latter feature may not be available in the future, as there is a possibility that the S Pen could be removed from the Ultra's design. An informant known as PandaFlashPro, shared on X, mentioned: "It seems that Samsung could eliminate the integrated S Pen in the future Ultra to make more space." Furthermore, he clarified that "this will not apply to the S26 Ultra, which will still support the S Pen," but did not make the same clarification for the 2027 model.
The question that arises is why Samsung would consider getting rid of the integrated S Pen. A subsequent report on WCC Tech indicates that the same leaker has claimed that Samsung is testing ways to increase battery capacity in its Ultra models without the S Pen, which could justify its removal. Currently, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.9-inch display, and even though the S Pen is included, Samsung has disabled some features like Air Actions this year.
If Samsung decides to eliminate the S Pen in favor of a larger battery in a future Ultra model, it is likely that they won't face many complaints, as long as there remains an option for S Pen support, as is the case with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, the S Pen is a distinctive feature of the Ultra model. Annika Bizon, VP of Product and Marketing for Samsung Mobile Experience in the UK, previously stated that Galaxy users should not worry about the inclusion of the S Pen in future models, emphasizing the importance of multimodality in phone usage.
In an ideal scenario, it is expected that even if a future Galaxy Ultra model does not include the S Pen integrated, users will still have the option to purchase it separately. However, it would be preferable not to eliminate it completely, as doing so would make it easy to lose the S Pen once it is no longer secured in its designated space in the device.
