The first Minecraft update of 2025 will include six new game features, now available for public testing.

Two new pig varieties will arrive in Minecraft.

Mojang has revealed the features of the first major update for Minecraft in 2025. This new update, which does not yet have a specific release date, will introduce six new features that players can test through public trials.

Among the new additions are two variations of pigs: the cold pig and the warm pig. The cold pig has fluffy fur and thrives in colder biomes, while the warm pig can be found in sandy biomes.

Additionally, three new environmental features will be added to enrich the experience in forest biomes. These include falling leaves, leaf litter, and wildflowers. Mojang has stated that while exploring forests, dark forests, and wooded lands, players will be able to hear the crunching of leaves underfoot. The leaf litter makes a sound when walked on and can be used to beautify other blocks. In meadows and birch forests, yellow and white wildflowers will be found, which can be used to craft dyes and feature four growth stages that accelerate when using bonemeal.

Another important detail is that all trees in the Overworld will have falling leaf particles. A new, simpler recipe will also be introduced for creating a lodestone, which will now only require combining an iron ingot with chiseled bricks.

Players who wish to try the update before its official release can do so by enabling snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition or activating trials/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. However, it is important to note that the Bedrock version does not yet include the features of leaf litter and wildflowers, although it is expected that they will be added soon.
