The EA Battlefield Labs Will Allow the Community to Influence the Next Game.

Battlefield Labs is the new and ambitious testing program launched by EA.

EA has introduced a new community testing program called "Battlefield Labs" that will allow players to participate in the evaluation of the upcoming video game in the Battlefield series. Registration for this program is now open, and the company has announced that the "first phase" of testing will take place in "the coming weeks" for selected players in Europe and North America.

As of this writing, there is a long waiting list to register for Battlefield Labs; there are nearly 200,000 people ahead on the list, with an estimated wait time exceeding an hour. EA has stated that “your position in the registration queue does not affect your chances of receiving an invitation,” so those looking to avoid the wait may want to consider waiting a bit before attempting to register.

This testing program adds to EA's previous initiatives, such as testing related to the new Skate game and Project Rene from The Sims franchise. However, Battlefield Labs may also be a measure to avoid similar issues that arose with Battlefield 2042, a launch that had a troubled start and did not meet the company’s expectations.

In a video accompanying the announcement, EA explained how its “Battlefield Studios” – which include Dice (creators of the franchise), Criterion (known for their racing games), Motive (who worked on Dead Space and is developing a new Iron Man game), and Ripple Effect (responsible for the Portal mode in 2042) – are collaborating on the development of this new title, which will feature modes for both single-player and multiplayer. Oversight of the series is in the hands of Vince Zampella, head of Respawn Entertainment, who took over after some changes that occurred shortly after the launch of 2042.
