The built-in game recording feature on Steam is now available for everyone.

It is now easier than ever to acknowledge my limitations.

Steam has officially launched the game recording feature, which is no longer in beta and is available to all users. This tool provides PC, Mac, and Steam Deck players with an integrated way to record and share audio and video of their gaming sessions. It adds to the various alternatives that already existed for PC gamers to capture their highlights, such as the functionalities offered by tools like Xbox Game Bar, Nvidia GeForce, and AMD's Adrenalin.

This Steam client update also marks the end of support for devices running Windows 7 and 8, as well as for Macs using macOS 10.13 and 10.14, following the announcement made by Valve earlier this year.

After the automatic update, players can start recordings manually using a hotkey (Ctrl + F11 is the default) or set it to activate automatically, with options to limit the duration, quality, and storage space that Steam will use. Valve has indicated that this feature is compatible with any game, including those that are not on Steam but allow the Steam Overlay to run. Recording is disabled by default, and users will find their settings in a new game recording tab within the Steam settings.

Additionally, Valve has updated Steam Game Recording with several new features that were not present at the start of the beta phase in June. These improvements include "advanced" export options and the ability to set specific settings for each game. The session view has also been added, which includes a "recordings and screenshots" manager with tags and specific data for each game.
