SanDisk Joins the Creator Trend with New Storage Products That Look Like the Old Ones; I Won't Buy Them Because I Don't Think They're Worth It.

SanDisk has recently launched a new line of storage products under the "Creator" label at CES 2025. While they may appear innovative and aimed at content creators, it's important to note that many of these items are simply updates of previous versions with different color schemes.

The SanDisk Creator Desk Drive, for example, offers 8TB of capacity and promises sequential read speeds of up to 1000MB/s. However, a similar model that does not carry the "Creator" label and is not blue also offers similar features but at a lower price of $549.99, compared to the $629.99 of the "Creator" model.

For those interested in microSDXC cards, the new SanDisk Creator microSD Card of 1TB, which is also blue, is designed for use in devices like Android phones, drones, and digital cameras. This product is available for $159.99, although the SanDisk Extreme microSDXC of 1TB, a comparable model, can be purchased for only $92.99.

If a portable SSD is desired, the SanDisk Creator Pro, available in blue, offers capacities of up to 4TB and read speeds of 2000MB/s for $349.99. However, the SanDisk Extreme PRO model, which is practically the same, can be found for $299.99, representing substantial savings if color is not a decisive factor.

Finally, the SanDisk Creator Phone SSD is introduced as a new product aimed at facilitating content creation on the go, compatible with phones that have MagSafe, although a price for this device is not yet available.

Despite SanDisk targeting its products at the creator market by relabeling previous versions, consumers may find better deals on versions that do not carry this designation, unless the blue color is an essential requirement.
