Is Rebel Ridge heading to DC? Netflix's Aaron Pierre could star in the superhero series Lanterns.

Who will play John Stewart alongside Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, in Lanterns? An actor from Rebel Ridge is in talks to take on the role of the superhero.

Aaron Pierre could be joining the DC universe after standing out in his performance in Rebel Ridge. It has recently been reported that Pierre is being considered to play John Stewart in Lanterns, a detective series based on DC comics. According to sources, Pierre and Stephan James are believed to be the two final actors for this role, although it hasn't been specified whether both are auditioning or reading for the part. A decision on who will take on the role is expected to be made by the end of this weekend.

Aaron Pierre has shown he has what it takes to lead an action project with his performance in Rebel Ridge, a critically acclaimed Netflix film directed by Jeremy Saulnier. Additionally, Pierre has experience in the superhero genre, having played Dev-Em in Syfy's Krypton. On the other hand, Stephan James is known for his roles in Homecoming and If Beale Street Could Talk.

Damson Idris, who will share the screen with Brad Pitt in an Apple film related to Formula 1, has been ruled out for the role of John Stewart due to scheduling conflicts. Meanwhile, it was reported that Kyle Chandler was finalizing a deal to play Hal Jordan.

In Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, both members of the Green Lantern Corps, will become intergalactic detectives investigating a murder in the heart of America, with Hal serving as a reluctant mentor to John. DC Studios co-directors James Gunn and Peter Safran have compared this series to True Detective, describing it as an "HBO-quality event." In June, Lanterns received a direct series order from HBO.

Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King will be responsible for writing and executive producing Lanterns, with Mundy serving as showrunner. This series will be part of Chapter One of the DC Universe, titled "Gods and Monsters."
