Netflix presents the trailer for its new western series "Ransom Canyon," which promises to be an exciting combination of "Yellowstone" and "Virgin River."

Something special is approaching you.

Netflix has revealed the trailer for its new romantic western series titled Ransom Canyon, which will premiere on April 17. This new project has been described as "Virgin River meets Yellowstone," thanks to its blend of romance and escapist setting.

Ransom Canyon tells the intertwined stories of three ranching families in the rugged landscape of Hill Country, Texas. Like Virgin River, which has been well-received, this series is adapted from books, specifically the romantic novels of Jodi Thomas. Netflix describes it as "a family drama driven by romance and a contemporary western saga."

The trailer showcases a deep drama of love, loss, and loyalty set against the vast Texas landscape. Josh Duhamel plays Staten Kirkland, the owner of the Double K Ranch, while Minka Kelly portrays Quinn O'Grady, who returns to Ransom Canyon from New York in search of a new direction in her life.

The official synopsis of Ransom Canyon indicates that three ranching dynasties are locked in a struggle for control of the land, endangering their lives and legacies against external forces determined to destroy their way of life. At the center of this story is Staten Kirkland, who tries to heal from a heartbreaking loss while seeking revenge. His only hope seems to lie in Quinn O’Grady, a family friend and owner of the local dance hall. As the battle to save Ransom intensifies, a mysterious cowboy arrives in town, bringing with him secrets from the past.

Netflix has expressed its intention to replicate the success of Virgin River, which has garnered over nine million views in its recent sixth season and has remained in the platform's top 10 for two weeks. As Netflix begins to stream Yellowstone and its prequel series 1883, it positions itself to compete with Paramount Plus in the neo-western drama offering.

Duhamel and Kelly star alongside James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner, among others.
